Palaemon & Independence Farm

THE PALAEMON PROGRAM
Palaemon is a family-styled program committed to empowering young adults with learning disabilities toward the realization of their potential for autonomous living. We are dedicated to fostering a secure environment that will help ensure a bridge toward independent living while providing a “welcome-home” atmosphere. Palaemon provides “independence with a safety net” as our young adults are placed into successful situations with the knowledge that there are going to be obstacles and anxieties relative to new experiences. Yet from new experiences arise confidence, growth and ultimately, autonomous living.
COMMUNITY
Based on the belief that many personal and life-long benefits are gained through community involvement and volunteering efforts, Palaemon is dedicated to being an active and beneficial part of the community of which it is a part. Participating young adults are encouraged to volunteer and actively get involved in the extended community and to socialize with other young adult support program participants that are also located on the Cape. Palaemon maintains an active membership in the Aktion Club Aktion Club. The Aktion Club is affiliated with Kiwanis International and provides our young adults with opportunities for serving and participating in the Cape Cod community.
